Renowned American artist Bill Mack has ingeniously transformed the original metal

In 2007, Mack acquired the original Hollywood Sign, which had been removed in 1978 due to deterioration. Recognizing the cultural significance of this artifact, he repurposed the metal as canvases for his paintings, depicting iconic figures like Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, and Katharine Hepburn. Mack believes that the 90-year-old material “gives each painting a heartbeat, a sense of the time and place where the Hollywood Legends he paints on it paid homage to the ‘word for dreams,’ The Hollywood Sign.” Wikipedia+1Alamy+1Key West Gallery+1Key West Gallery+1

Beyond creating individual artworks, Mack undertook the ambitious project of restoring the original letter “H” from the sign. Completed in August 2012, this restoration earned him a Certificate of Recognition from the Los Angeles City Council for his dedication to preserving a vital piece of Hollywood history. Wikipedia+1Wikipedia+1Wikipedia+1Wikipedia+1
